December 1956 Cover of SPORT Magazine, featuring sprinter Bobby Morrow.

The finished art, available framed or unframed, is inscribed “The SPORT Covers” with the date of publication. The cover reproduction itself is approximately 11″ wide by 1 41/4″ high. The inscription adds 2″ to the bottom, so the total frameable image is approximately 11″ wide by 16 1/4″ high. There is also a 1″ white border on all 4 sides so the total print size is approximately 13″ wide by 18 1/4″ high. When matted and framed, the product is approximately 18″ wide by 22″ high. Frames are solid wood, and mounting and matting is done entirely with quality acid-free materials to ensure long life.

Gussie Moran (1923)
Gertrude “Gussie” Moran is a retired professional tennis player from Santa Monica, California. Moran began entering amateur tennis tournaments in the late 1940s and eventually gained eligibility to play at Wimbledon in 1949. Although Moran had a powerful, compact swing, her appearance at Wimbledon that year transformed her into a celebrity: Her good looks partnered with the shorter-than-regulation dress she wore onto the court both intrigued and outraged viewers. Although she attempted to use her newfound celebrity to her advantage and went pro, her playing ability could never quite overshadow the ruckus caused by her Wimbledon attire.
